Castel junior constable Barry Paint surveys the damage to the gate across the Rue des Boulains end of Rue Paintain. (0557649)
A PARISH gate across Rue Paintain in the Castel has been destroyed by what appears to be a large vehicle.
Junior constable Barry Paint came across the damage on Saturday morning but said yesterday that he believed the incident near the junction of Rue des Boulains and Rue des Fauxquets had occurred overnight on Thursday/Friday.
‘We met the police there on Saturday morning and made an official complaint on behalf of the parish.’ However, Mr Paint was not pointing the finger at deliberate vandalism and believes it could have been an accident.
* Police confirmed yesterday that their inquiries into the incident were continuing and they appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
