ORGANISERS have named the Guernsey Live local acts.

Co-organiser Warren Holt yesterday confirmed that Thee Jenerators, Gay Army and Teaspoonriverneck will perform at the two-day musical spectacular.

Oxford-based Dial F For Frankenstein – which has a band member from Guernsey – will also be playing at the festival.

Local bands that hoped to play had been asked to send in recordings.

‘The general standard of bands that sent CDs was fantastic and very inspiring,’ said Mr Holt.

‘Our intention was to put two local bands on the main stage. However, after listening to the CDs, we dropped two UK acts and have made space for another two local bands.’

Gay Army guitarist Jo Reeve said that the biggest events the group had played at had been on-island, such as the Vale Earth Fair.

‘We’re all really excited,’ said Mr Reeve.

‘We are going to work really hard over the next few weeks to get a really decent set together,’ he said.

‘I would really like to play alongside Editors – it would be fantastic to play alongside them on the Saturday,’ said Mr Reeve, who added that he had also recently got into music by Robots In Disguise, who will also be playing over the festival weekend.

The Guernsey band that most impresses the organisers over the weekend will also be invited to play the opening set at this year’s Jersey Live festival, said Mr Holt.

* Mr Holt said that ticket sales were approaching 1,500, with 70% going to Guernsey, 20% to Jersey and the UK and Continental Europe taking the remainder.

‘There is a huge buzz in Jersey about coming over to Guernsey Live,’ he said.
