‘Pay us another £4 or we’ll destroy your godchildren’s present’

FLYBE has been accused of ruining a birthday surprise for one-year-old twins.
Law student Emma Mourant, 25, intended to bring a LeapFrog educational toy back to Guernsey on Tuesday for her goddaughters, who were one yesterday.
But airline staff at Exeter refused to accept the present on a flight, then threatened to dump it when Miss Mourant could not pay a surcharge.
A Flybe spokesman said yesterday that the package would be flown at no charge to Guernsey yesterday afternoon and be ready for collection at 6pm. Unfortunately, the flight did not get in last night and the airline were unable to say this morning whether the present had got in on an early flight.

When did the Guernsey press become a tacky tabloid? “Pay us another £4 or we’ll destroy your godchildren’s present” Worthy of ‘The Sun’ itself…

it is just total madness that any extra charge should be made, airlines are going over the top in to-days world, with stupid rules and charges. they look for any reason to charge the poor public. they should be feeling disgraced, but you always get one in the company who has to be a jobsworth.i get them when i travel you feel like kicking them between the toes, (the big toes)that is,

This is typical of Flybe. I am a reluctant Flybe passenger – if I lived closer to Stansted I would fly by Aurigny, a much more pleasant and less penny pinching experience. I will cheer the day Flybe go out of business.

I agree! I think people fly with FlyMAYbe out of necessity rather than choice. Ironic that they condemn Norwich airport as “petty” and “greedy” when their attitude centres on these two very qualities. And how they can call themselves a “budget” airline without being in breach of the Trade Descriptions Act I don’t know. They get away with far too much and it’s about time somthing was done about it.

My friend came back from South Africa a few days ago and they charged her £168 for excess baggage. She got on the plane (at Gatwick) and it was half Empty!
They already rip Guernsey people off because they know we have no choice and have to leave via the airport most of the time, when going away. Easy Jet are such a good airline!
I paid £17 Return to Amsterdam a few years ago!
and it costs me that to get a taxi home from town on a sat night!
Flybe and Cable and Wireless and Wave are the biggest rip offs in the Island. 10p for a text message on a pay as you go! Once again its because they know we dont have any choice.

Flybe are heartless. I have flights booked from Manchester to Guernsey and wanted to change them to Newcastle to Guernsey via Jersey as a back injury was preventing me from travelling from Newcastle to Manchester Airport by train. The cost of the journey for three adults went from £501 to £1034 for return flights Newcastle to Guernsey via Jersey. This included £150 flight change charge. Neither wonder Guernsey tourism is losing out to foreign holidays.
