BB shot nearly blinded girl of 6

Wednesday 9th April 2008, 2:29PM BST.

A SIX-YEAR-OLD girl was shot in the face by a fully automatic BB rifle.  If the pellet had hit her eye it could have blinded her, the Royal Court heard, but it narrowly missed.

Cory King, 19, who admitted assault, was sentenced to 150 hours’ community service. Judge Russell Finch said it had been worrying to hear through Advocate Liam Roffey, prosecuting, that a police firearms expert said the pellet could have caused serious eye damage.

Advocate Sarah Brehaut, representing King, said her client was extremely remorseful. She said there had been a long history of King’s family’s vehicles being targeted but that he now wanted to put this episode behind him, apologise and move forward with his life.
