SOME 270 people turned out for the second hustings in the West yesterday evening.
Returning office Peter Bott said the interest justified the decision to hold hustings on consecutive Wednesdays at La Houguette School.
‘I spoke to Richard Heaume who organised it [on one evening] four years ago and he said people had had trouble getting in,’ he said. ‘I wrote to the four douzaines and all were in favour of the two nights. We must have had about 500 people over the two weeks.’
Two of the 12 candidates were absent. Mimi Byrom had a prior engagement while Nara Le Noury’s seat was empty for the second week running.
