Bridget’s name remembered
Friday 18th April 2008, 2:29PM BST.
Dedicated to nature: Bridget Ozanne.
ORCHID fields in St Peter’s have been renamed after local botanist Bridget Ozanne, who died last summer.
The fields at Les Vicheries were unveiled as the Bridget Ozanne Orchid Fields at a ceremony attended by friends and family.
Mrs Ozanne was botany secretary for La Societe Guernesiaise and for 10 years had given guided tours through the fields, which contain some of the rarest orchids in the British Isles.
La Societe conservation officer Jamie Hooper said the decision to rename the fields in Mrs Ozanne’s memory had been made by its council.
