ST SAMPSON’S Marina contractor Miller & Baird is to take the States to court to claim about £3.5m.
The company, which is registered in the Channel Islands and has an office in St Andrew’s, is claiming £7,114,330 for the work. The contract drawn up between it and the States was valued at £3,416,381.
The total certified by the States engineer was £4,090,656. Public Services minister Bill Bell, in a letter to all deputies, said the States was owed £400,000. A spokesman for Miller & Baird said Deputy Bell was wrong to say the contract had been settled.
‘Deputy Bell rightly points out the States engineer has now issued a final certificate, but this certificate has simply established that there is a dispute between the parties in the region of £3.5m.,’ he said. ‘The company has offered to meet Public Services to discuss mediation in order to expedite a settlement, but this option has been turned down.
