No more Sunday mailings
Thursday 24th April 2008, 11:21AM BST.
GUERNSEY’S post watchdog hopes the ending of Sunday mail shipments from the Bailiwick will be the last reduction in service.
The service will stop from 18 May following Royal Mail’s decision to cut its Sunday UK mail network as part of a rationalisation plan. Guernsey Postwatch chairman Mike Garrett said the move was a fait accompli that he hoped would be the last.
‘Apparently there will no collection in Guernsey on a Sunday,’ he said. ‘I hope it’s not the thin end of the wedge and that this will be the start of more cuts in future.’
