SIX deputies without ministerial experience could form part of the new Policy Council. Chief Minister Lyndon Trott announced his choices yesterday and will find out on Tuesday whether the House supports them.

They include zero-10 tax critic Charles Parkinson as his replacement for Treasury and Resources minister. ‘I had a nice conversation with Deputy Parkinson on Thursday night and it’s fair to say that both of us are looking forward to working together very much indeed,’ said Deputy Trott.

The other potential new ministers are Jack Honeybill for Commerce and Employment, Leon Gallienne at Culture and Leisure, Hunter Adam at Health, Mark Dorey at Social Security and Carol Steere for Education. Geoff Mahy [Home] and Dave Jones [Housing] are in line to hold onto their departments and there could be a switch to Environment from Culture and Leisure for Peter Sirett.

And former Environment minister Bernard Flouquet could be returning to the Policy Council at the head of Public Services after a 15-month absence.
