YOUNG Sarnian Chris Law fought in vain in rounds five and six of the Elf Renault Clio Cup. Starting from the eighth row of the Donington Park grid, the 17-year-old battled his way from 15th position to ninth by lap nine in the first race.

Shortly afterwards, though, while overtaking, he had contact with another car and that caught the eye of the clerk. Although the team vigorously appealed against the verdict to the MSA, which said it was a hard decision, the clerk’s wishes were upheld and Law was disqualified from the round.

It was a bitter blow to the Sarnian as he was equalling his best finish. Determined to make up for that disappointment, Law quickly moved up to 11th position from 17th in the following day’s round. However, while challenging for 10th, he was spun off the circuit.
