THE Little Chapel has been vandalised for the third weekend in a row. The vandals struck on Saturday night at about 11pm, breaking pots and wooden fencing.

The noise woke Blanchelande Girls’ College’s resident caretakers, who went out with a high-powered torch, scaring the perpetrators away, and within five minutes the police had arrived. ‘I was just totally shocked,’ said Dave Babbe, maintenance manager at the school, which looks after the chapel.

‘As the chapel is a holy church, it’s not something you would expect people to do.  It’s not just the expense but the manpower and inconvenience. It will take a few days to sort out. It’s something we don’t need.’
