ST SAMPSON’S High will set the standard for new secondary schools in Guernsey, according to Education minister Carol Steere. The new board yesterday toured the site, which also houses Le Murier, along with the department’s senior staff and head teacher designates Hazel Tetlaw and Alex Brown.

‘I’m thrilled with the development. I think it’s amazing and really sets the standard for the other two secondary schools, Les Beaucamps and La Mare de Carteret.

‘All credit to the staff and the previous board for bringing this project forward,’ said Deputy Steere.  ‘The pledge was made to the secondary sector, the rebuilding of the schools.  This is the first one in that programme of work.  Hopefully, Les Beaucamps will come along soon.

‘We want to open up the school to the public so that all parents and students in the island can get a feel for the direction the board wants to take, the plans and proposals for upgrading the facilities so they are fit for the 21st century.’
