COMPLAINTS from neighbours about La Fontaine Vinery industrial site are decreasing, according to Public Services.
At the end of last month people living around the area met members of the department, Treasury and Resources and environmental health to discuss their concerns.
St Sampson’s deputy and Public Services board member Scott Ogier has again met some of the householders, who said Sundays were now quieter.
Complaints ranged from the site being used out of hours, noise and light pollution and concerns the temporary site would be made permanent.
Deputy Ogier said a couple of companies still used the site on Sundays, although he understood they did not need to. The sound of people hammering on cars in the evenings was also causing disruption.
‘The residents are waiting to see how it develops. They are now happier on Sundays, but I said I would keep an eye on it.’
Deputy Tom Le Pelley has suggested that a small area could be created at Longue Hougue, but was advised that that would bring a new range of challenges.
There are another 16 months to run of the three-year lease for the temporary compound.
It is being used by small businesses that face eviction if they break tight restrictions on use of the site.
