Future is bright thanks to thriving cadet class

THE cadets were the stars of the show at the weekend’s non-championship kart race.

The class, the ages of which vary from eight to 11, boasted 10 drivers – the largest entry in several years – for the well supported meeting sponsored by the Queen’s Hotel and the Konken family. The youngest of them all, eight-year-old Bradley Ford, must have been pleased with his day having completed every experience-gaining race in eighth place each time.

The mid-class positions were fought out by Cameron Robert, Brooklyn Brown, Lewis Boschat (Jersey) and Daniel Galpin. At the front end, Tom Snell, Conner Le Cras, Harry Torpy (Jersey) and Angus Torode battled it out for the top three spots.

Torode, in his normal fine form, led from start to finish, but Torpy went from second on lap one to last by lap two, a place he stayed in until the flag. That left Le Cras to take a well deserved second place and Snell third.
