New service gives users broadband on the move

GUERNSEY’S newest offering of broadband internet access is proving popular among islanders, according to Airtel-Vodafone.
It launched its mobile broadband service at the end of March and with established connection speeds still substantially lower in the islands compared with those offered in many places in the UK, some users appear to be looking for more diverse ways to do so.
‘Uptake is ahead of our plan, as is usage. We recently upgraded the capacity links to cope with demand,’ said an Airtel-Vodafone spokesman. The Vodafone Mobile Connect USB modem has given islanders broadband connection on the move for the first time and offers speeds of up to 1.8 megabits per second in Guernsey and up to 1.5Mbps in Jersey.
