One-way will endanger children, say neighbours

CHILDREN will be put at risk by the one-way system proposed for the new schools in St Sampson’s, say Oatlands Lane residents.

John Morgan, who owns Linfield Motors and lives next door, said the system would make the traffic flow worse.

‘They are putting kids’ lives in danger,’ he said. Mr Morgan has lived in the lane for 40 years and used to be a St Sampson’s constable. ‘The one-way will speed up the traffic, no matter what anyone says. They have created a chicane [by one of the school’s entrances] and they didn’t even bother to consult us about it,’ he said.

Linda Le Conte lives further along Oatlands Lane and has a 14-year-old daughter who will attend the new school. She, too, said the one-way was a big mistake.
