TWO coaches have set up a company to help the next generation of Guernsey’s sporting talent. Richard Smeed and Jose Alvarez have established Skill Set CI with a view to giving children and adults the chance to get the best out of sport.
Some of the island’s biggest names have been enlisted as coaches, including aqua specialist Jane England and swimmer Jo Winberg.
‘It’s a new sports venture with professionalism and experience at its core,’ said Mr Smeed. ‘We’re offering coaching and training in different sports with qualified and enthusiastic coaches. All the classes will be small so people will get personal attention, which is something that’s been missing before now. It’s not elitist either – it’s open to everyone who just wants to have fun.’
Mr Smeed is well known as a tennis player locally and has represented Guernsey and the Channel Islands at all county levels.
