A MOCK emergency carried out at the PEH yesterday afternoon tested the staff and prepared them for such an event.
The exercise, code-named Exercise Peregrine, involved a bus carrying school children which had overturned after swerving to avoid a car.
The three passengers in the car, plus those on board the bus, sustained a variety of injuries from broken bones, lacerations and bleeding into the chest cavity.
Hospital staff were not given any details beforehand to represent a lifelike emergency. The Emma Ferbrache Room was transformed into an incident room with an electronic white board being used to update staff of the details of the injuries.
