Children to lead litter campaign

CHILDREN are to spearhead a new anti-littering campaign by designing promotional posters.
The Environment Department, police and Respect Guernsey have joined forces to launch Do The Right Thing and have asked children from Years 5-9 to design awareness posters to be displayed on bins and in public places.
Community Sergeant Jane Henaghen (pictured) said the fact children were the creative force behind the campaign should be its greatest strength.
‘They are the future and we want them to be a part of the solution to the litter problem because they’re far more creative and better at getting the message across,’ she said. She added that it was not necessarily children who caused the problem, but they were often affected by it.
