KRIS MOHERNDL is looking to make the most of his chance to bat at three in the Evening League this season.
He did just that last night as Cobo chased down 139 with more than three overs to spare at Port Soif. Together with TJ Ozanne, the ECC academy player put on an unbeaten second-wicket stand of 118 to take the game away from old rivals Optimists.
Both rode their luck at times – and unfortunate bowler Steve Queripel will seldom have less luck again – but importantly they always looked to be positive and ran extremely hard. Ozanne has been struggling for form in the opening weeks of the season, but he ground it out on this occasion with a valuable 28.
It was young Moherndl who took the lead role and hit five fours as well as a couple of big sixes in an impressive 50-ball knock worth 85.
