Baubigny narrowed and a 20 speed limit
Saturday 14th June 2008, 9:29AM BST.
THE speed limit will be cut to 20mph in the roads around the new Baubigny schools, Environment announced yesterday.
And a kerbed footpath/cycleway from Rue de Bas to Le Bordage will narrow the main Baubigny/Duveaux roads to around three metres to help make sure speeds stay low.
‘The footpath/cycleway is specifically designed to put vulnerable road users on a properly designated and clearly defined raised pavement of approximately 2.5 metres in width,’ a spokesman said.
‘This approach is expected to calm traffic and reduce vehicle speeds without the need for a plethora of physical traffic-calming measures.’

Dear Editor My husband and I have just returned from a most enjoyable stay on the Island. We very much enjoyed the Seafood Festival and the music. The only downside was the facilities for bike riders!! We purchased the Cycle Ways Map,and off we went. A gentle cycle to the north of the Island, on the designated cycle route, out past the industrial estate. What a nigntmare! We were harrassed by lorries and cars coming right up behind us and the 35mh speed limit is totally ignored. It was quite frightening indeed, in the end we cycled on the pavements for our own safety.
Yours
