GUERNSEY took the honours in the junior and senior inter-insular team events in Jersey at the Liberation Show.
The senior trophy, in its 50th year, was brought back to Guernsey for only the fifth time, while the Sarnians had most recently won the junior one three years ago.
It is a massive feat for the visitors as the teams have not won the trophies together, which gave the enthusiastic following of Guernsey supporters something to cheer about.
Katie Fallaize, on J M Breezer, kicked off in the first class with a fine win and continued to shine throughout the show. Later on during the first day, Emma Dorey and Snaffles Purple Patch flew into first place in the 1.10m open. She was also fourth on Optimum, with Sanna-Liisa Valtenan and Larsens Du Home right behind Dorey in fifth.
The Guernsey competitors continued to keep Jersey on their toes with Louise Warr, Sian Staples, Catherine Best and Valtenan taking second to fifth respectively in the largest class of the day, the 1.20m open.
