POLICE, fire and ambulance services teamed up and staged a rescue at Albecq yesterday.
For the practice a car was placed on Albecq beach with two acting casualties inside, a female police officer and a male Guernsey Press reporter, who were made up to indicate a variety of serious injuries and then rescued.
Ambulance and Rescue Service training officer John Atkins described the scenario. ‘A car had left the road and fallen about 25ft down the cliff and, although it had come to rest on its wheels, it still provided an interesting and challenging dilemma for all three services to deal with,’ he said.
The police were the first on the scene. ‘They made initial assessments of the situation and were closely followed by an ambulance crew, a paramedic and an ambulance incident officer,’ he said.
