THE likelihood of a permanent skate park in Guernsey could soon be a reality.

The Xtreme Sports Association has commissioned designs by an architect for a concrete facility and is in discussions with the Environment Department.

Where the facility will be located is still unknown, but association member PJ de la Mare said it was the nearest it had ever been to establishing a permanent park in the island.

‘I’m confident about the plans for a concrete skate park which we should be unveiling soon,’ said Mr de la Mare. ‘It’s not far away from being approved in principle. Once we have had more detailed drawings done, we will need to find funding for the whole thing.

‘We are probably the closest we have been to having a permanent park here.’
