DYNAMISM and freshness are key elements of the new Guernsey Island Games Association logo. It gets its first airing this week as Giga officials headed to Aland yesterday.

Giga chairperson Denise Fawcett, Jon Marley and Jeff Vidamour are on a fact-finding mission at the venue for next year’s NatWest Island Games while attending the annual meeting of the International Island Games Association.

Tomorrow sees the one-year-to-go mark for the opening ceremony to the 13th biannual Games and the four-day stay in the Finnish island in the Baltic Sea offers the Guernsey officials the perfect opportunity to get to grips with the logistics of sending, housing and moving about a team of 280-plus athletes within the focal point of the archipelago which sits between Sweden and Finland.

In launching the logo, designer Chris Griffiths of Two Degrees North, said that part of the remit was to take some elements of the Sarnian flag.
