Cross-board discussions on revamped CI league

GUERNSEY and Jersey Cricket Associations are looking into expanding the Channel Islands League.
The Guernsey Cricket Board chairman and weekend league officer for the GCA Dave Piesing (pictured) has had dialogue with JCB vice-president Ward Jenner about forming a new Channel Islands competition from next year.
The current Channel Islands league starts at the end of July and although it has eight teams involved, they are split into two groups followed by semi-finals and a final to determine the champion.
The new competition could involve four teams from both islands playing each other once from mid June resulting in seven matches for each side. ‘To be honest there’s nothing wrong with the CI league, the problem is with our domestic league and the CI league is one of the answers for improving it,’ said Piesing.
