Forty years of memories

FORMER pupils and teachers marked the end of an era on Saturday as many returned to St Peter Port School for its final open day.
Registers from when it opened in 1968 to the present were on display, as were class photos from the archives and others of school life, some supplied by former pupils.
‘I won’t know any of the founder students, but I’m very excited about meeting some of them. All I know is they loved the school,’ said current head teacher Ken Wheeler. ‘The one thing I have realised is that as the current head, there’s this huge legacy with this school. That’s what I’m very proud to be a part of.’
People were allowed to wander round to see how things had changed. The former typing room is now the French room, the former cookery room and small flat, which was used to teach childcare skills, have been transformed into geography and science classrooms and the swimming pool site used to be a greenhouse.

Just wanted to know if anyone knows Keen Wheeler?
I met him when I was around 14 in Guernsey St Peters Port and wondered how he was!
