ON THE PITCH Guernsey’s senior island cricket team flattered to deceive and lost to the MCC by three wickets at Port Soif.

But off it they received a boost with news that the Guernsey Cricket Board had secured Barclays Wealth as its new sponsor in the largest   agreement ever seen by the local game.

The two-year deal was welcomed by GCB chairman David Piesing. ‘This new agreement with Barclays Wealth is by far the biggest sponsorship agreement that Guernsey cricket has seen to date and comes at a time when the senior national side is preparing for regionaI ICC European and hopefully World Cricket League events.

‘It will enable us to do so much more than we can at present in preparing the players in the best way possible, including working even more closely with Sussex CCC under our fantastic partnership agreement, assisting university-based and locally-based players to attend more regular winter weekend sessions at Hove,’ said Piesing.
