Beach bears

TEDDIES and their owners raised more than £14,000 for charity after their record-breaking link-up on Pembroke Bay.

Nearly 2,000 islanders braved the weather last Friday to form the human/teddy bear chain, smashing the previous record of just 631.

The money raised from the event is being donated to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

‘We’re really pleased,’ said chairman of Guernsey MS branch Rob Platts.

‘Considering the appalling weather on the day, we were amazed so many people turned up.’

Fitzgerald’s Photography, which donated its time to capture the action, is planning to sell photographs of the event to help raise more money for the MS Society.

More than 400 were taken on the day and it is hoped that this last fund-raising effort will push the total up to the £15,000 target.

They can be purchased from www.fitzgeralds.co.gg/photography.

Pictures in our gallery were taken by GP photographer Adrian Miller and may be ordered from www.thisisguernsey.com/photos.
