TV does not bring the best out of Watson
Saturday 5th July 2008, 9:29AM BST.
HEATHER WATSON and her partner Tara Moore suffered a disappointing exit from the Junior Wimbledon doubles in yesterday’s quarter-finals.
They lost in straight sets to Australian pair Isabella Holland and Sally Peers. Their performance was not a scratch on their epic victory over Katarzyna Piter and Romana Tabakova on Wednesday.
The match was played in front of more than 800 spectators on show court three and was shown live on BBC Digital.
‘I think the girls played some very good tennis but they just lacked a bit of discipline and sharpness, especially on finishing shots,’ said the Lawn Tennis Association’s head coach of women’s tennis and Great Britain’s Fed Cup captain, Nigel Sears, who was in the stands watching the match.
‘The other girls were a good team. Heather and Tara were up against it and were under pressure.’
