THE Bowmen of Guernsey kicked off their summer season with two handicap competitions. They were the Hampshire Salver for closest to handicap, recurve only, and the Sarnia Hope and Mike Bisson trophies for recurve and compound above handicap.

Both shoots took place on sunny but breezy days and both were standard Fita metric rounds, three dozen arrows at each of four distances, 90m, 70m, 50m and 30m.

Chantelle Goubert claimed the Hampshire Salver as closest to handicap with 1,010. Matt Tardivel was second with 1,155 and Jemma Loveridge third with 920.

For the Sarnia Hope and Mike Bisson trophies, eight of the 12 competing archers shot above handicap and five hit a personal-best or equal score – the best time to get them.
