PEOPLE are being urged to slip off their shoes and pop on their pumps for next week’s inter-firm road relay.

Organisers of the Collins Stewart-sponsored event are encouraging runners of all abilities to form teams of four for the race on Wednesday, to take part in the round course starting and finishing at Hirzel House, the sponsor’s main office at the top of Smith Street.

All money raised will go to the Island Games athletics team. Guernsey Island Amateur Athletics Club president Rob Batiste said the event had proved popular in the past and he was anticipating a good turnout.

‘It is a very enjoyable social event that can be both serious and fun. It’s always entertaining to see runners climb the final section of the course as the steep incline in Smith Street is quite a challenge,’ he said. ‘I hope to encourage more business houses to get involved this year as there is potential for double the number of runners that we have had previously.’

Entry forms are available from GIAAC or the Collins Stewart Town office.
