THE Guernsey Youth Service has set about educating teenagers this summer through entertainment. North Youth Centre, La Moye, manager Clive de la Haye has organised Splat, a programme of learning activities for children in Years 7, 8 and 9.

He said there was plenty for the children aged between 11 and 15 to get involved with.  ‘Seeing the smiles on their faces really speaks for itself,’ said Mr de la Haye.

The activities started on Monday and will run for the next three weeks. They keep the youngsters occupied from 9.30am until 4pm.

Individuals can take part in a range of things, including kayaking, cookery, climbing, art workshops and crazy golf.  ‘We have all sorts of activities for the kids to take part in, but none of them are forced into anything they don’t wish to do,’ he said.

‘It’s really nice to hear the comments from everyone who’s taken part and enjoyed themselves.’ There are still spaces available next week and the one after.
