BOBBY EGGO has regained a share of the L’Ancresse links course record. But his 63 in the Royal Guernsey President’s Prize competition could have been better, rued the island’s finest ever golfer.
At one stage he was on for a 61, perhaps even 60. That was after he went out in 32 (three under) and started the back nine with birdie, birdie, birdie, birdie.
Eggo, 47, knew he was on for something very special and after eight 64s off the white tees during his illustrious career, for 22 years of which he had a share of the course record, the former Walker Cup player had every hope of not just matching Garry McFarlane’s magnificent 63 set in mid May, but usurping it.
