Phenomenal’ F1 chance for Priaulx
Saturday 26th July 2008, 9:29AM BST.
ANDY PRIAULX will be behind the wheel of two cars this weekend at Brands Hatch. As well as aiming to make inroads into the sizeable advantage held by Gabriele Tarquini and Yvan Muller at the top of the world touring car championship leaderboard, the Guernseyman will get to drive the BMW Sauber F1 car in two sessions over the weekend.
‘It is always a highlight for me to race in front of my home crowd and I’m looking forward to giving the fans something to cheer about, both in the WTCC races and the F1 car, he said.
‘This is an amazing time for the BMW Sauber F1 Team and to have the chance to show the fans an F1 car at Brands Hatch is a real treat for me and them. The noise will be phenomenal and it promises to be a real spectacle,’ added the triple World Champion.
The Sarnian last tested a Formula One car in 2005 when BMW co-operated with the Williams F1 team. But the thrill of a guest drive in an F1 car will mean little if he does not secure a lot of points in tomorrow’s two WTCC races.
