No exams, but quality assured

DOCTORS in Guernsey are not likely to sit exams under the new five-year relicensing system, according to a Medical Specialist Group member.
Geriatrician Dr Gill Turner (pictured) said she saw no reason why the UK Government’s new system would not work in Guernsey. ‘It is unlikely we will undergo formal exams but full details of the new system have yet to be released,’ she said.
Her opinions were based on official sources, she said. ‘The chief medical officer’s report says it is very unlikely we will sit formal exams and Royal Colleges said it won’t happen.’
Dr Turner said she thought Guernsey doctors would be accepting of the system. ‘I don’t think it would be seen as a threat to any local doctor,’ she said.
She supported the idea in principle but wanted to know the precise details of which changes would be made to the system and how much time and money those would take to implement.

I read that as the Doctors are scared they might not be right up to scratch,
The Guernsey people should not except this, the doctors should be made to sit exams for the benefit of all, They charge a lot of money for their service so it should be seen without doubt that they are competent with the very latest medicine.
