PLANS for a permanent skate park will be submitted to the Environment Department within the next three weeks, the Culture and Leisure minister has confirmed.

But Deputy Mike O’Hara, who has been a long-time campaigner for the facility, would not say where the department is proposing the park goes.

‘Once it has been put in front of Environment, it can then be made public where the site is,’ he said. ‘I feel frustrated that I cannot say where we want it to be, but I just don’t think it would be right until it’s in Environment’s hands.’

Skaters and BMX riders have been making good use of a temporary skate park at the rear of the Bowl’s car park, with many youngsters using the site every day.
