AS USUAL, they are coming in from a variety of sports for the annual All Terrain Challenge.
Basketball stars Mike and Pete Beausire are in the 2008 line-up, as are footballers Jake Ellis and Adam Dorey. But perhaps the best known changeover sportsman in the field is Siam Cup rugby star Jim Elliott.
The big man is back for his third challenge, but his quest for the Division Two honours were virtually sunk before the first stride of the first leg. He missed the first race at Pleinmont due to Guernsey rugby captain Andy Bailey’s wedding and, given a time penalty, he has a lot of work to do to catch up.
But he did well enough at last evening’s soggy slog up the Telegraph Bay steps, clocking a very reasonable time of 2min. 42sec. His view is that for people like him you get out of the challenge what you put into it.
