WHEN Kieran Senior weds his childhood sweetheart Amanda Le Prevost in three weeks it will be the final chapter in the story of his amazing recovery.

After his battle with a potentially lethal strain of meningitis, he returned to Guernsey at Christmas 2006 to recuperate.  Now, 18 months later, they plan to walk down the aisle at King’s Church,  on 16 August.

The couple have known each other for more than 10 years but lost contact when he left the island to study in England. When he returned to his parents’ home in St Peter Port after having suffered a severe case of meningococcal meningitis and encephalitis – acute inflammation of the brain –  Miss Le Prevost was the first person to visit him.

‘Amanda really helped to look after me after I was ill,’ said Mr Senior. ‘She used to make sure I’d eaten, because I would forget if I hadn’t.’ Luckily, Miss Le Prevost is a nurse and knew how to help him regain his memory after his illness. She took me round the island and helped me to remember things, just little things, to help.’

When he returned to his work placement in England, the pair stayed in touch and began dating last summer. Both sets of parents are very happy about the match.
