‘Cat killers should be named and shamed’
Wednesday 6th August 2008, 2:29PM BST.
THE owner of a cat that was kicked to death at the Grand Bouet estate has spoken about the incident for the first time.
She called it a ‘senseless killing’. ‘The cat was very elderly,’ said the owner, who wished to remain anonymous for fear of reprisals.
The pet, named Jess after the children’s television character Postman Pat’s cat, was a timid animal.
‘She was a lovely old cat and was here all the time. She never mooched far,’ said the owner of seven years.
‘The rest of the cats know to run away from the kids now. But Jess didn’t run because she was deaf. She couldn’t hear them coming.’

Voice for Victims is a campaign aimed at promoting the rights of those affected by child sexual abuse.
I think that the person or persons who did this to this poor defenceless animal should be brought to their senses by naming and shaming as the lady says so that the whole of the Island knows who they are. What harm could have this poor animal have done to anyone..it is utterly disgusting..You should be ashamed of yourselves, let’s hope this does not happen to you one day in a dark alley way…

I was horrified on reading this article. What hope is there for society with such sick and twisted people growing up. I wonder if they go home at night and hold their heads up high proud of their days activities, eager to tell their family/friends what they’ve achieved? There is no defense for mindless cruelty, although I am sure they will try and justify their evil actions with some sob story about a difficult childhood! We all make our own choices and should all be accountable for our own actions in life no matter what our background. Naming and shaming them doesn’t go far enough in my opinion!

Pure evil is the only way to describe the people who did this to an old and defenseless animal. I wish them nothing but bad luck for the rest of their lives. So many serial killers start out by abusing animals. If this had been done to a human being these people if caught could spend the rest of their lives in prison for murder, maybe it’s time the laws in this world were changed to protect our four legged friends and give their existance more dignity.

The people who did this to an innocent cat should have the same treatment placed on them and see how they like it.

i totally agree, they should be named, they should not be protected, i have 9 small kittens here and i would love to offer this family a replacement cat if i knew who they were, they would be welcome to have a house cat, and yes place these savage`s in stocks in the middle of st peter port blindfold and ear muff them so we can all throw stones!!!!!!

What do the parents of these thugs say about their children’s actions?
If a dog had hurt a child – never mind killing it – the dog would be put down. These thugs must be caught and severely punished – and named.
There is a proven link between animal abuse and human abuse.

Unfortunately – even if we could put these stupid thugs in the stocks – they are soooo small minded that they would probably go around bragging about it afterwards. They are just cruel, twisted little scumbags…….excuse the expression but I cant think of another way to describe someone who deliberately hurts defenseless animals.

surely the parents of these little thugs must be aware of what they have reared, they should definitely be named if they are caught and punished severely-more often than not serial killers start out by maiming/abusing innocent animals and then progress on to bigger prey…….

Yes, of course they should be named and shamed!
Most of us have to face the consequences of our actions and why not them? I hope the parents are ashamed of their detestable children and will mete out some punishment, although it is bound to be inadequate. These people who are so sadistic are cowards, bullies and subhuman. And obviously lacking in intelligence.

I would love to get hold of them.If they were taken to court they would just get a slap on the wrists and they deserve the same treatament as they gave to that poor cat.Best thing is to get a group of animal lovers to kick them to death, put paid to scum and lets them see what it is like to suffer the same as this cat did,we are far to lame on these thugs.

I think it’s absolutely disgusting behaviour, what’s wrong with these repprobates. Unfortunately I have elderly neighbours who think it’s smart to regularly put down poison for cats, they’ve even had the bare face cheek to admit it. Ive complained tirelessly but nothings done if I ever see anyone hurting a cat i’d do to them, what they’re good at dishing out wicked cruel sod’s.
