FOUL play could be involved in the slaughter of six potentially prize-winning chickens, according to their owner.

Roger Burton had been preparing his birds for next week’s West Show when they were killed during Monday and Tuesday night at his St Saviour’s home.

He was confident that one of the chickens, a maran, would have won its class.

‘The fence around here is of good, strong quality and to have a dog break through the wire in this way is very odd,’ said Mr Burton.

He suspects the attack might have been carried out by a dog, but he thinks someone might have lifted the fence to let it in.
