THE South Show opened yesterday and marked its 100th anniversary.
For the second year it was held in St Martin’s Community Centre, which was crammed full of flowers, cakes and crafts.
Committee member Chris Guerin said entries were up, especially in the junior section.
‘It’s not just the crafts, it’s the baking and the gardens. I really do think that the children are being encouraged more these days to do things that aren’t in front of their TV or computer.
‘The children’s entries are up which is really good as they are the ones we have to encourage.’
