A TALE of love and adventure during the Occupation received a great response from locals when it was launched on Saturday.
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, written by American author Mary Ann Shaffer, had its first public presentation in Market Square.
To coincide with the launch, there was traditional 1940s food and music.
Kate Tindal, marketing executive for publisher Bloomsbury, sold the novel outside the Guille-Alles Library.
‘It’s been going well. We’ve sold over 150 copies and we only have a boxful left. It’s been encouraging as there has been lots of interest, which is great.
‘So many people have come up and told me their stories about the Occupation.
‘It’s quite a fun novel. It’s about the love of reading and friendship. I think it’s a really refreshing book.
