Martinez rivals warm up with wins

Monday 11th August 2008, 3:29PM BST.

THE new football season kicks off tomorrow night with the traditional curtain-raiser, the Martinez Cup.
The annual match sees Bels, the Priaulx League champions, face Guernsey FA Cup winners North at the Track.
And after a summer of discontent off the park, arguably Guernsey’s best two sides will finally be given the chance to let their boots do the talking, as they battle it out for the first silverware of the season.
Micky Ogier, whose Bels side impressively won 4-2 against Rozel Rovers in a friendly in Jersey over the weekend, has only one injury worry ahead of the match, that of midfielder Simon Marley.
Although it features the two favourites for the Senior County Division One title this year, it will be a match used as a warm-up by North coach Mick Le Prevost.
