PETER JORY is the 2008 island full-bore rifle champion after shooting a brilliant final round at Fort Le Marchant.
Going into the closing stage, Jory was narrowly trailing last year’s winner, Nick Branch, with only two ‘v’ bulls the difference.
After the first of Saturday’s two rounds, the two men were neck and neck and in the final round Jory kept his nerve to win by four points.
Although the large lead in the end came as a surprise, club president Peter Sirett believed that Jory always produces when it matters.
‘It was a quite incredible shoot from Peter. He doesn’t seem to suffer from nerves at all and he loves pressure shooting,’ he said.
