ESTATE agents report a fall in sales but, they say, it is nowhere near as bad as the UK’s.
Some agents there are said to be selling just one house a week as sales fell to the lowest level since records began in 1978.
Goldridge Estate Agents director Geoff Mauger said that conveyancing figures were down last month.
‘Estate agents are generally experiencing the consequences of that. Having said that, it isn’t anywhere near as dramatic as it has been in many parts of the UK.
‘I would think that it’s not as bad as most members of the public are thinking it probably is.
‘Bad times are being experienced nationally, and people are inevitably putting two and two together and thinking that it’s pretty awful. But it’s not.’
