ST PETER PORT has a new douzenier.
Dr Hannah Laidlow beat the only other candidate, Keith Pike, to win yesterday’s by-election.
The election was the result of former deputy Brian Gabriel moving out of the parish after 14 years on the douzaine.
Voting took place at the constables’ office from 10am to 8pm, but turnout was low.
‘There was just a 1.8% turnout, which was very poor and very disappointing,’ said senior constable Jenny Tasker.

The turnout was not surprising as I saw no advertising for the election at all. If a candidate had not told me about it I wouldn’t have known!
