GUERNSEY’S top two teams defeated their Jersey counterparts in morale-boosting victories as the NatWest CI Club Championship finally got under way on Saturday.

With the first round of scheduled matches abandoned two weeks ago due to bad weather, Wanderers and Cobo made a belated winning start to their group campaigns and edged towards the semi-finals.

It was a fine all-round team performance from Ben Driver’s men at the KGV as they disposed of the Jersey champions by 14 runs on the Duckworth/Lewis method following a short rain interruption.

Ross Kneller was the main contributor with the bat for Wanderers, scoring a well-compiled 55 after his side had been put in to bat.
