Institute to offer finance career path

STUDENTS under 18 and the unemployed are set to get a cheaper springboard into a career in finance. The Securities & Investment Institute is offering its gateway examinations and membership at a discounted rate.

Islanders wanting to break into the finance industry can now do so without spending so much on expensive exams and qualifications.

The SII is the professional body for those who work in the securities and investment industry. It sets standards of professionalism and provides qualifications. SII deputy director for strategic development Inigo Churchill said the discounts would bring a broader range of people into the finance sector.

‘The industry has always been keen to show that it does have a wide base of workers. The perception is that it’s all Oxbridge graduates, but that hasn’t been the case for a long time.’
