A WEDDING was spoiled when the bride’s iPod was stolen from the reception.
Wayne and Nicky Branquet celebrated their big day with 300 people in a marquee near Rocquaine after they were married at St Peter’s Church on Friday.
But the celebrations turned sour the following morning when Mr Branquet found that the iPod he had bought his wife for Christmas had been taken.
‘Most people bring presents to a wedding reception, not take them away,’ said Mr Branquet.
The couple were certain invited guests were not responsible for the disappearance and that it was more likely to have been gatecrashers.
Mr Branquet said there were about 10 people at the reception he did not recognise and thought his wife must have invited them.
Mrs Branquet did not know them either and thought they must have been guests of her husband.
‘It’s not about the iPod or the value of it, but the fact that somebody turned up uninvited and took it and it makes me sick to the pit of my stomach,’ he said.
Mrs Branquet felt the same.
‘It’s the thought that someone came to help us celebrate our wedding and left with something they shouldn’t have,’ she said.
‘The person who took it also has the photographs of my children that are on it and it makes me feel sick.’

Anyone wishing to return the iPod anonymously is asked to put it in the letter box at either the Torteval or St Peter’s douzaine room or at the Guernsey Press in Braye Road. Anybody with information can call Mrs Branquet on 07781 164104.
